How To Use Electroneum Block Explorer to View ETN Paper Wallet Balance – No need to create CLI Wallet or use CLI Daemon!
Many of my Youtube viewers and Blog readers continue to ask”Queen Wiki, do I have to create a CLI-wallet in order to view my ETN balance on my Paper Wallet?”
So rather than replying back to each of you individually via comments, I have finally put together a HOW-TO video.
First I created a dummy throw away ETN wallet
Then I transferred some ETNs from Cryptopia ETN wallet to the dummy ETN offline paper wallet
Next I walked you through the whole nerdy process using the Electroneum Block Explorer.
Here is the video which shows you how to View Electroneum Balance on your Paper Wallet
Log in to http://my.electroneum.com
Wait until your “Recent Transactions” load in the middle of the page. Copy the Transaction Hash.
Go to http://blockexplorer.electroneum.com
Paste the Transaction Hash in the search box
You will see 1 or more outputs
Scroll down. You will see: Check which outputs belong to given Electroneum address and view key
Enter your ETN Paper wallet address in the first box
Enter your ETN Paper wallet PRIVATE VIEW Key in the 2nd box
NOTE: When doing a copy and paste from the Paper Wallet PDF, spaces will be added.
DELETE ALL SPACES in Wallet Address and View Key
Now… Click on blue DECODE OUTPUTS button
At the bottom of that page, you will see the text “Show Decoded Inputs”
Click “Show Decoded Inputs” if nothing is automatically displayed underneath that text
You will see a 1 or more INPUTS
The header title looks like this
output public key amount output match?
Pay attention to the last column ‘output match?‘
You want to look at the ‘amount‘ where output match is “true”
The ‘amount’ is how many ETNs coins you have in your Electroneum offline paper wallet!
Well not really… It is the amount of Electroneums you have in your offline paper wallet associated with that particular transaction.
Remember the paper wallet is not meant to be a ‘transactional wallet’. It is meant to be a ‘storage wallet’. There should NOT be multiple transactions in your paper wallet PERIOD!
If you conduct transactions, then I highly recommend you transfer the COMPLETE BALANCE in your paper wallet to another paper wallet. Because for every internet-based transaction you perform, you will have compromised the security of your paper wallet.
Transfer ETNs to your paper wallet and STORE it in a safe place for the FUTURE.
If you want to conduct transactions, then you should have ETNs in your Electroneum web based wallet which is the same as your mobile wallet.
If you want to check the balance of your Electroneum Offline Paper Wallet, here is a more technical, sure-fire way to do it –> https://youtu.be/8t-Yi-ECdyY
Until Next Time …
