Bitcoin Price $4000 Today? Say Whaaat?
Bitcoin (BTC) surpassed $4,000 today, reaching a new milestone and setting yet another all-time high (ATH).
The Bitcoin cryptocurency, the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, reached as much as $4,000.93 today, according to figures provided by CoinDesk’s Bitcoin Price Index (BPI).
At the time of this article, Bitcoin prices had fallen back somewhat, retreating to $3,926, according to Coindesk.
By reaching this latest milestone, the price of Bitcoin has increased more than 300% year-to-date, rising from less than $1,000 at the start of the year to break through key price levels of $2,000, $3,000 and $4,000, according to CoinDesk.
Over the last several months, the media has written endlessly about “Bitcoin millionaires” and the sharp returns that everyday investors could have generated had they simply purchased bitcoin in its early days and held on to them.
Now, “Bitcoin Believers” will have an even stronger case due to the robust returns they have received not only over the past year but also over the history of Bitcoin since 2009. The loyalists are definitely in party mode.
Market observers have offered many different views on this subject, ranging from extreme negativity to pie in the sky optimism.
As for what Bitcoin prices will do next, nobody knows. Some believe that cryptocurrencies are simply a fad, while others believe that Bitcoin is here to stay.
The bottom line as with any investment is no one knows what the future may hold.
